Consultant: Assistant Project Manager

Competitive Power Ventures, Inc.(CPV) is seeking a site-based Assistant Project Manager, for a combined cycle power plant in Ward County, TX. This is a 1099 consultant assignment. This dynamic consultant will support the project execution and prior experience with the execution phase of large, complex gas fired combined cycle construction projects to completion is preferred. The successful individual must possess excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills, and provide accurate, consistent and timely project updates to deliver an on-time and on-budget project.

Consultant Responsibilities
The specific responsibilities of this assignment include, but are not limited to:

  • Report on project metrics to Project Manager and escalate any issues as necessary
  • Assist with review, monitoring and tracking of project schedule and progress and help ensure overall project schedule compliance.
  • Assist with environmental and other permits, including compliance tracking and field observations.
  • Assist with management and compliance tracking of project contracts and insurance policies.
  • Review and provide recommendation of validity of contractor payment application and assist with change order tracking.
  • Provide input to project weekly and monthly progress reports.
  • Participate in regular contractor construction meetings.
  • Help manage the coordination of OEM Contract and Technical Advisors

Consultant Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management/ science or related field
  • Prior project management experience executing complex, utility scale gas fired combined cycle construction projects to completion.
  • Knowledge of construction safety and current federal/OSHA requirements
  • Knowledge of Environmental Permits and Sediment Controls Regulations
  • Results driven and adept in working under pressure with tight schedules/budgets in a changing and dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of power projects and typical construction execution.
  • High Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Primavera P6 is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal skills, and a professional demeanor that aligns with CPV’s Core Values.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and be able to work with personnel at all levels (technical and non-technical)
  • Must pass a pre-consultant background and financial credit check.
  • This assignment will require the execution of a Consulting Service Agreement
