CPV is seeking an Internal Controls and SOX Compliance Accountant to join our Controller’s organization, located in Silver Spring, MD. This position will work closely with the director of internal controls, process owners and other stakeholders in the support of CPV’s internal controls and execution of the CPV SOX compliance program.
Essential Functions
- Perform testing of IT General Controls (ITGCs) across applications, databases, operating systems, and network layers to ensure SOX compliance.
- Evaluate the design and operating effectiveness of controls related to access management, change management, data integrity, and system operations.
- Assist with testing of Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR).
- Initiate and manage SOX documentation requests sent to various stakeholders.
- Document test procedures, results, and conclusions in accordance with audit standards and SOX requirements.
- Identify control deficiencies and work with stakeholders to develop remediation plans and timelines.
- Coordinate with the Director of Internal Controls and external auditors during walkthroughs, testing, and remediation efforts.
- Provide guidance and training to control owners and process participants on SOX requirements and best practices.
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and/or Information Technology
- Minimum of 2 years professional experience in public accounting working on audits of public companies and/or public company experience working in internal controls
- Experience in SOX and/or SOX consulting a plus
- One or more professional certifications preferred – Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
- Proficiency in audit tools and GRC platforms preferred (Workiva)
- SAP public cloud experience preferred
- Excellent interpersonal, collaboration skills, organizational, and teamwork skills
- Strong problem-solving/analytical skills
- Ability to handle multiple projects and timelines
- Ability to work well with all levels of employees and management
- Strong analytical and computer (MS Office Suite) skills
- Technical understanding of US GAAP, IFRS, SOX, and COSO
- Must pass a pre-employment criminal background and financial credit check
Compensation: The base annual salary range for this position is $70,000 – $95,000. In good faith, this range includes the minimum to maximum salary range for this position. The actual base salary for this position will be contingent upon individual experience, role responsibilities, and office location.
In addition to base salary, this position allows additional compensation and benefits, including:
- an annual discretionary bonus up to 15%, variable based on individual and company performance,
- accrued paid time off (PTO) of 120 hours per year, and up to 13 company paid holidays, and
- group benefits: 100% company paid medical, dental and vision coverage, a 401(k) plan with a 100% company match up to 6%, life insurance, short-and-long term disability, parental leave and flexible spending accounts.
The base annual salary range may be modified in the future.
