Project Overview

The CPV Fairview Energy Center is a 1,050 megawatt natural gas-fueled combined-cycle electric generation facility currently in operation in Jackson Township, Cambria County, PA. The facility, which came online in December 2019, is capable of generating enough electricity to power over 1 million homes and businesses, helping Pennsylvania to safely meet its demand for energy with reliable, cost-effective and environmentally-responsible low emissions generation.

Combining the most advanced generation technology available with clean natural gas and state-of-the-art emissions controls, CPV Fairview is one of the cleanest, most efficient conventional generation facilities in Pennsylvania and the United States. The facility uses clean-burning, regionally sourced natural gas and features two combustion turbines (“CT”), two heat recovery steam generators (“HRSG”) and one steam turbine (“ST”) in order to maximize efficiency.

As part of CPV’s commitment to conserving natural resources, the facility utilizes industrial water from the Cambria Somerset Authority (CSA) for non-contact cooling purposes, sourced through a new 8 mile, 24" pipeline and 2 electric powered pump stations which was built by CPV and owned and operated by CSA. Once the water cycles through the plant multiple times, it is treated and returned to the CSA via a pipeline where it can be used again for industrial processes.
