CPV is seeking a motivated and dynamic Senior Financial Analyst to join its Renewable Energy Finance team and be part of the ESG and sustainability movement. The ideal candidate must demonstrate a strong attention to detail, a solid foundation in financial analysis, modelling, financing documents and reporting, and possess a strong desire to make a difference by being part of the energy transition. Experience within a financial institution, renewable energy or a utility company or familiarity with the power sector is a plus.

The position will report to the Director of Finance and be based in our Silver Spring, MD headquarters where employees enjoy a collaborative work environment and flexibility to work remotely 1 day a week.

Responsibilities

Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for daily execution of the financial management and reporting processes within the asset management team as well supporting financing structuring and due diligence processes. This position will handle day-to-day activities within the Finance department communicating with both external stakeholders and internally integrated departments. The core responsibilities of this position include:

  • Understand and manage compliance with financing documents (debt and tax equity) including interfacing with financial institutions.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of renewable energy projects (wind/solar/battery power generation assets) and assist with the existing monthly/quarterly/annual financial reporting, budgeting and financial management tasks.
  • Prepare debt service accruals file monthly and assist with loan compliance reporting.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to assist in managing monthly financing draws, payments and cash flow waterfall distributions in compliance with loan / tax equity documents.
  • Perform financial performance and KPI variance analysis.
  • Create, update and maintain project finance forecasts for 1-2 projects tracking project. profitability and liquidity, assisting with analyzing project finance / capitalization strategy structures and supporting various financing activities.
  • Contribute to the company’s operation policies and procedures for renewable energy projects and help to further develop efficiencies as processes evolve.
  • Collaborate closely with other departments within CPV (energy management, development, construction, operations, accounting, legal) and build strong internal and external stakeholder relationships.

Qualifications and Preferred Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or relevant discipline
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in financial analysis, project finance, reporting or related function (energy industry experience a plus)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point. Experience with Tableau/VBA is a plus
  • Financial modeling skills and experience with complex and long duration project structures with elements of debt and equity financing
  • Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills with a strong desire to learn and succeed
  • Must demonstrate effective attention to detail, critical thinking skills, problem-solving capabilities, and ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Willingness to roll-up sleeves and pitch in as needed
  • High integrity with ability to handle confidential sensitive information
  • Must pass a pre-employment background and financial credit check
